Johannesburg, South Africa: Earlier today, the Benoni Zalmi coaching staff was revealed in a press conference.

SA legend and record-holding ex-captain Graeme Smith was announced as Head Coach, while prolific First-Class left-handed batsman Geoffrey Toyana was announced as Assistant Coach.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Thursday welcomed its newest outfit, Multan, which will feature in the third edition of the tournament to be held in 2018.

Dubai-based Schon Group met the reserve price of $5.2 million per year for an eight year contract, in a contest that had 10 bidders. The total contract is therefore worth $41.6 million.

Multan is Pakistan's fifth largest city. For its rich Islamic and Sufi tradition, it is known as the City of Saints.

Karachi Kings was until now the most expensive team, with the ARY Group purchasing it for $2.6m per year for 10 years.

The other teams of PSL Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators were purchased for $2.5m, $1.6m, $1.5m and $1.1m respectively.

The Schon Group is a Dubai based group, owned by a family which has its roots in Pakistan.

With the inclusion of a sixth team, the number of matches played in the PSL is also set to be increased. PSL Chairman Najam Sethi is aiming to host at least four matches of the PSL's third edition in Pakistan.

Teams were allowed to retain nine players going into the PSL Draft but with a sixth team added to the mix. Foreign PSL players will be paid USD 10,000 per match to play in Pakistan next season. After having retained nine players before the PSL Draft, the six teams were expected to pick up to 11 more cricketers for the third edition of the tournament using the Draft.

These players were picked in the Platinum Round, Diamond Round, Gold Round, Silver Round (two), Emerging Players Round (two) and the Supplementary Player Round (four). Lahore Qalandars picked up three players during the Supplementary Round because their purse was over before they could pick the fourth and they ended up with 19 players.

The Karachi Kings decided not to pick up their fourth Supplementary player till after their National Cricketer Hunt was over.

The Islamabad United brought in South African all-rounder JP Duminy as their Platinum pick before selecting Australia and New Zealand cricketer Luke Ronchi, Pakistani all-rounder Fahim Ashraf and England keeper batsman Sam Billings.

Also joining the squad were Zafar Gohar, Sahibzada Farhan and Hussain Talat while the Supplementary players who might not be available for the entire duration of the tournament were Alex Hales, David Willey, Mohammad Hasan, Mohammad Hasnain.

Karachi Kings had earlier announced that Imad Wasim will lead the side and he was joined by South African middle-order batsman Colin Ingram, Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, England hard-hitting opener Luke Wright and South African all-rounder David Wiese.

The others to feature in the PSL Draft for the Kings were Tabish Khan, Mohammad Irfan Jr, Hasan Mohsin and Colin Munro in the Emerging Category and Eoin Morgan and Saifullah Bangash in the Supplementary Round.

Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was the first pick for Peshawar Zalmi and he was joined by Tamim Iqbal, Hammad Azam and Saad Nasim before Taimoor Sultan, Ibtisam Sheikh and Sameen Gul joined him in the line-up.

The Supplementary Round of players saw the Zalmis pick Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis, Khalid Usman and Muhammad Arif for the side.

With Shane Watson and Carlos Brathwaite joining the Quetta Gladiators in the Platinum and Diamond category, they have a middle-order that consists of two different kinds of all-rounder. The pair will be joined by some other Pakistani cricketers like Rahat Ali, Rameez Raja Jr, Saad Ali, Saud Shakeel and Hassan Khan.

In the Supplementary round of picks, the players who made it to the Gladiators side were Jason Roy, Rashid Khan, Moin Khan (jr.) and Faraz Ahmed.

The Lahore Qalandars were the first team to bring in a Platinum player and they selected Aussie gun batsman, Chris Lynn. He joins his Brisbane Heat teammate and captain Brendon McCullum in the squad along with Mustafizur Rehman, Bilal Asif, Raza Hasan, Sohail Akhtar, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ghulam Mudassar.

The other Supplementary players who could be available for a few games are Angelo Mathews, Mitchell McClenaghan and Gulraiz Sadaf.

Newly-formed side Multan Sultans brought in Imran Tahir before setting in for middle-order batsman Darren Bravo and Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad in their line-up. Mohammad Abbas and Nicholas Pooran were the others picked up before Abdullah Shafique and Saif Badar joined the side from the Emerging category.

Hardus Viljoen, Umar Gul, Umar Siddiq and Ross Whiteley form the Supplementary players.

Player Salaries:

Platinum category: $140,000-230,000

Diamond category: $75,000-80,000

Gold category: $50,000-60,000

Silver category: $22,000-33,000

Emerging category: $10,000-12,000

Overseas players who feature in matches in Pakistan will be paid $10,000 per game they appear.

According to a latest PCB report, the number of players allowed in the squad has been raised to 21 from the original 20 and an extra purse of $25,000 has been allocated to the teams. The extra player will have to be from Pakistan and “may include players unearthed through talent hunt programs or top performers from the National T20 Cup taking place in Rawalpindi currently.”
KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released names of 13 more players who have agreed to be part of the lucrative Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The list includes New Zealand trio of Luke Ronchi, Mitchell McClenaghan and Colin Munro along with England’s Adil Rashid, Australia’s John Hastings and the South African duo of Albie Morkel and Wayne Parnell.

With the release of 13 more names, the number of new signings for PSL is now at 20.

West Indian Jason Holder has also returned to PSL, he was denied permission by his home board in 2017 to participate in the league.

ISLAMABAD UNITED FULL SQUAD 2018

Pakistan Super League squads for the third edition of the competition were announced after the PSL Draft that was held in a glittering ceremony in Lahore on November 12, 2017.

Teams were allowed to retain nine players going into the PSL Draft but with a sixth team added to the mix. Foreign PSL players will be paid USD 10,000 per match to play in Pakistan next season. After having retained nine players before the PSL Draft, the six teams were expected to pick up to 11 more cricketers for the third edition of the tournament using the Draft.

This is certainly a huge moment for both the teams, given that this is the first final of a major tournament that is being played in Pakistan in almost a decade. Sixth team in PSL T20 2018 edition Multan Sultan has appointed former Australian player “Tom Moody” as head coach. This announcement was made by President of Multan Sultan team “Wasim Akram” (who recently joined the team) during a ceremony in Karachi to launch the team’s Logo & Kit. Tom Moody already remained the coach of Indians Premier League (IPL) franchise name Sunrises Hyderabad and in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Rangpur Riders team. He also remained the head coach of Sri Lankan national team in 2005 – 2007. Tom Moody was not present at the ceremony but after ceremony he sent a video massage.

Moody said that “I am very excited to be a part of PSL franchise Multan Sultan team. Great things are ahead for the new side in the PSL. We are looking forward to working with all the local talent and putting together a great team for the success in the future”.

Tom Moody was also happy to partnering-up with old mate Wasim Akram. Tom Moody belongs to Australia and he played 76 One Day International (ODI) matches and 08 Test Matches for Australia. His ODI debut was against India at Chennai in October 1987 while test debut was against New Zealand at Perth in Nov 1989. He not played much international cricket but his experience of coaching is good and it will be helpful for Multan Sultan (New franchise in PSL) to perform well in its first presence in PSL 2018.

Shaji Ul Mulk, the man behind the all new T10 Cricket League, is confident that non-contracted Indian players will join the tournament for the next edition.

The inaugural edition of the tournament will be staged in the UAE in December this year. The league has been approved by the International Cricket Council and several cricket boards, including PCB, have already agreed to release their players for the shortest format of the game.

But BCCI, the richest cricket board in the world, will not allow its players to compete in the league.

Shaji Ul Mulk, chairman of the league, remains confident nevertheless. He says the tournament is likely to see a lot of Indian players in its second edition.

"See the BCCI has a policy of not releasing their players for any league in the world. It's not just our league, but they don't release their current players for any T20 league in the world. It has been their policy to protect the Indian Premier League," Shaji Ul Mulk told Khaleej Times at the 'Pick Order' Draw in Dubai on Tuesday night.

"But having said that, they have actually allowed retired players like Virender Sehwag to take part in our league. Now we are in talks with BCCI to release some of the non-contracted players like Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa and the Pathan brothers, Irfan and Yusuf. So far the response has been positive. We are hoping to have some big Indian names for our next edition of the tournament."

There was great excitement among the franchise owners on Friday at the Owners 'Pick Order' Draw - a system that will give one lucky team the chance to pick their favourite player first when the draft happens next month.  

"Now there are only 45 days left for the start of the tournament. It's a big challenge to stage a league of this magnitude. It will be four days of exciting cricket. We have probably the highest number of international cricketers as 60-70 current cricketers will compete in the league," Shaji Ul Mulk said.

The Indian businessman then revealed how the idea of having a T10 tournament first came to his mind.

"It was basically the concept of having 90-minute cricket. You know the game has seen the rise of new formats over the years. First it was the one-day format, then came the T20s. But I felt there was still a chance to make the game even more exciting," he said.

"You know all big sports like football and basketball are played for only 90 minutes. So I thought even cricket can have a 90-minute format. So to complete a game in 90 minutes, it has to be 10-over format. So that's how the T10 concept came to my mind. I wanted to make it fast-paced.

"So far the interest has been huge. What's very satisfying is to see a concept being commercialised. It will be nice if we can make it a great success because we all want cricket to be fun and fast."

The team was formerly organised by the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA), which became a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1965. However, the organization was expelled in 2017 following the ICC's concerns about the USACA's governance and finances.[1] On September 24th, ICC Americas announced that a newly formed governing body, known as USA Cricket would take over the team and governance of the sport in the US, starting in 2018.[2] Until the board is established, the team will be run by an ICC Americas administrator.

S. representative team was a participant in the first international cricket match, played against Canada in 1844. However, until the late 20th century the U.S. national team made only infrequent appearances against other international teams, generally only playing against Canada (in the annual Auty Cup) or against touring teams. The U.S. made its international tournament debut at the 1979 ICC Trophy in England, and since then has missed only two editions of the tournament (now known as the World Cup Qualifier). After winning the 2004 ICC Six Nations Challenge, the team qualified for the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy, playing its sole One Day International (ODI) matches to date. In the World Cricket League, the U.S. has qualified for the 2017 Division Three tournament. The team's current head coach is Pubudu Dassanayake.
