The T20 Global League is a planned Twenty20 cricket tournament by Cricket South Africa (CSA) to be held in South Africa from November 2018.[1] In the wake of the departure of CSA's CEO Haroon Lorgat a few weeks before, CSA announced in October 2017 that the tournament would be postponed to November 2018 due to financial considerations, the lack of a broadcast deal and title sponsor.[2][3][4] Thabang Moroe, acting CEO of CSA said that "we have re-assessed our strategy and believe that postponing the first edition of the T20 Global League to next year will serve us well".[5]

T20 Global League (T20GL)

The T20 Global League is an international T20 cricket league based in South Africa.

The T20 Global League will debut in the last quarter of 2017, with eight participating teams consisting of local and international cricket players. The eight T20 Global League franchises are privately owned and matches will be played across South Africa in the following cities: Benoni, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Stellenbosch, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth.

Cricket South Africa, the national governing body of cricket in South Africa, are the owners of the T20 Global League.

The Draft Pick order is based on a weighted matrix that is predetermined (a.k.a. the “Draft Matrix”)The Draft Matrix has been compiled by the League and was provided to the Teams immediately following the completion of drawing of the lots on 21 August 2017. This allows the Teams to plan aheadEach Team will have 16 picks in total, as per the order set out in the Draft MatrixEach Team will be given a maximum of two (2) minutes to exercise its pick for each roundTeams will be allowed Planning Breaks after every four (4) roundsEach of the 16 Rounds has a specific player salary value for all eight (8) picks in that roundNo Team will be allowed to skip a round of picks and must draft a player in each roundNo prior ne
HOW THE MINI DRAFT WORKS:

The Mini Draft is specifically for a team to select their International Marquee PlayerThe Mini Draft consists only of one round, and will take place prior to the Main Player DraftEach team is allowed only one pick during the Mini Draft.No trading of picks between teams is permittedA team’s pick order is determined as follows, in order of priority:Percentage of franchise bid value exceeding reserve priceDate of submission of bid as a tie-breaker, if required
